Six Years of Building Tix, The Infrastructure Behind Africa’s Biggest Events

By Folayemi Agusto, Co-founder & CEO, Tix

Over the past six years, Tix has quietly become the technology behind some of Africa's most memorable live experiences. While attendees remember the performances, the conversations, the energy in the room, and the memories they take home, we've always been focused on something else: the infrastructure that makes those moments possible.

From ticketing and attendee management to audience insights and event operations, we've spent the last six years building products that allow event organisers to spend less time worrying about logistics and more time creating unforgettable experiences.

That commitment has earned us the trust of some of Africa's most recognised brands, including Spotify, Afrofuture, Global Citizen, Flytime Festival, Art X Lagos, Lagos Fashion Week, alongside thousands of organisers across music, sports, business, entertainment, and culture.

In the process, we've powered thousands of events and facilitated millions of ticketing interactions across Nigeria and Ghana, giving us a unique perspective on how people gather, what they spend on, where culture thrives, and how the events industry continues to evolve.

We believe that perspective comes with a responsibility.

Not just to build better products, but to contribute meaningfully to the industry we've grown alongside.

That belief is what led to The Tix Index.

Built on three years of proprietary platform data, The Tix Index explores the state of Nigeria's events industry through the lens of ticketing behaviour. It examines the modern Nigerian event-goer, the geography of entertainment, changing consumer behaviour, and the true cost of a good time.

More than a collection of statistics, this report is designed to be a practical resource for organisers, investors, creators, brands, policymakers, and anyone interested in understanding where the events industry is today and where it's headed.

For us, this report represents something bigger.

It reflects the position Tix has earned over the years as more than a ticketing platform. We've become a trusted partner to the organisers shaping culture across Africa, and we believe the insights we've gathered can help move the industry forward.

Today also marks another important milestone in our journey as we officially launch Tix in the United Kingdom in the coming weeks.

For us, this expansion isn't simply about entering a new market. It's about following the communities we already serve.

African creators, organisers, and audiences are increasingly building communities beyond the continent. As migration continues to reshape where culture is created and experienced, we believe the infrastructure supporting those experiences should evolve alongside it.

Launching in the UK allows us to continue serving organisers wherever their communities exist while creating new opportunities for African culture to travel further and reach even larger audiences.

This is only the beginning.

Our ambition has always extended beyond selling tickets. We're building the infrastructure that powers live experiences across Africa and wherever African communities gather. We want to help organisers scale with confidence, help communities connect more easily, and help African culture travel further.

To every organiser who has trusted us, every attendee who has bought a ticket, and every partner who has chosen to build with us over the last six years, thank you.

Everything we've achieved has been possible because of you.

We're proud of how far we've come.

And we're even more excited about where we're going next.
