I Discovered Abuja's Best Kept Secrets And You Need To Know Them
InMyCity is a series where we showcase the unique stories and recommendations of people from cities all over the world. From hidden gems to popular haunts, we want to discover what makes each city special through the eyes of each person.
In this feature, creator Phidelia takes us through her favourite spots in Abuja. From her go-to restaurant for a cozy dinner to her favourite spa for unwinding, she shares the places that bring her joy and make the city feel like home.
Where To Eat
Uncle T’s: My favourite restaurant in Abuja is Uncle T’s because I can always count on the quality of both the food and the service. The ambience in the evenings, especially on the patio, is wonderful, and they offer some of the best desserts in the city.
La Taverna: A new favourite and a hidden gem! La Taverna serves amazing pasta, offers great service, and has a lovely outdoor space that’s perfect when the weather cooperates.
Nada Bakehouse and Detty Dough: For my pastry and dessert fix, these two spots are top-tier. Nada Bakehouse has a store open every day, while Detty Dough operates online and is based on pre-orders. Both serve the most delicious pastries.
The Garden by L’Epicure: While I haven’t explored much of the menu, The Garden serves some of the best pizza in Abuja. I recommend going in the late evening since it’s an outdoor spot and can get quite warm during the day.
Rest and Recharge
Tirta Ayu Spa: My go-to spa in Abuja is Tirta Ayu, a Thai spa located at Wells Carlton Hotel. With great service, amazing massages, and a relaxing atmosphere, I haven’t felt the need to find a new spa in three years.
Millennium Park: Millennium Park is my favourite park in Abuja. It’s clean and secure, and even though it attracts a crowd, it’s spacious enough for you to find a quiet corner. It’s perfect for solo picnics, dates, or small events.
Sugar Rush
Hans and Rene: As a Hans and Rene loyalist from my time in Lagos, I was thrilled when they opened in Abuja. It’s my go-to spot for gelato, and they never disappoint.
Retail Therapy
Inside Track: I love attending pop-up markets and discovering local small businesses. Inside Track is a favourite because of its unique selection of vendors. I always leave with exciting new purchases! They also host craft classes in collaboration with Strobrie Cafe, offering pottery, painting, and more.
Mint Organic Care and Le Le Labs: Mint Organic Care and Le Le Labs are among my favourites in Abuja. Both have beautiful spaces where you can sample and purchase their products.
